Back in June, Tewksbury Youth Hockey Peewee players and coaches participated in the Bourque Family Foundation 7.7k Run/5k Walk. They entered as part of a team to raise funds and donate to the Foundation. The Foundation had advertised a drawing for both a Tewksbury team and a non-Tewksbury team to win a practice run by Bruins legend, Ray Bourque. The Tewksbury Peewee teams were chosen for this amazing opportunity.
In working with the Foundation, we were able to schedule Ray to join all of our Peewee teams (3) and coaches on the ice at Haverhill Valley Forum. Ray participated in the drills and scrimmage, interacted with the kids and spoke to the entire squad. In a post-practice gathering, he even took the time for photos and autographs.
During the practice, we took up a collection and this morning, donated $600 to the Bourque Family Foundation on behalf of Tewksbury Youth Skating Association (TYSA) Peewee team families.
