Bantam - Week Ending Oct. 2


Maine won twice and Winchester and Arlington both won a game and tied each other. Watson came within 1:24 of a shutout, Kole Robinson scoring, and Simopoulos scored what turned out to be the winner with 10:26 left as Maine edged NH East 2-1 – and Simopoulos and Roop both scored twice in a 6-1 triumph over Lynnfield/Saugus; Sammy Vozzella wore the hat, Mike Martignetti had a goal and an assist and Robert DiVincenzo pitched a shutout in Winchester’s 5-0 victory over Concord; Reid Malatesta had 1-1-2 in Arlington’s 3-1 win over Natick – and Jack Riley and Martignetti scored in the second period to give Winchester a 2-2 tie with Arlington, Arlington scoring twice in the first period;

Jared Venezia scored twice in Wilmington’s 5-2 victory over NH east; and George Herlihy had two goals, including the one that turned out to be the winner, and added an assist and Justin McCullough posted 1-1-2 as Waltham nipped Natick 5-4 – Logan Pfaler and Will Haskell with 1-1-2 apiece in the loss.


Lexington/Bedford and Triboro both won twice and Reading had a win and a tie. Steve Joseph had a goal and an assist, Camden Maguire had two assists and Don McCarthy pitched a shutout in Lexington/Bedford’s 4-0 victory over SMS – and Colin Breen capped LB’s three-goal outburst over 2:05 early that led to a 4-2 victory over Newton, Hallion with 1-1-2 in the loss; Andrew Hadden and Tim Howard scored 38 seconds apart late to give Triboro a 3-2 decision over Groton, George Kochergin with two assists in the win – and Bobby Gibbons scored twice in a 3-1 win over the Crusaders; Mateo Cappuccio had 2-1-3 and Kevin Donaghey and Anthony Picano both posted 1-1-2 in Reading’s 5-1 victory over Greater Lowell – and Griffin Coir scored with 9:58 left and Steve Jean followed with 27 seconds remaining to give Newburyport a 3-3 tie with Reading, Paul Nicholls with two assists for Newburyport and Picano two goals for Reading;

Nick Burns and Noah McAllister scored 66 seconds apart late in the second period and Ben Finney came within 1:44 of a shutout, Jack Gray scoring, as Chelsmford downed Greater Lowell 4-1; Bert Greene scored twice and Josh Lunger posted 1-1-2 in Wellesley’s 5-2 victory over Newton; Roycroft (two goals) and McKay (one assist) scored 15 seconds apart early in the second period and McAdam also had 1-1-2 in North Andover’s 5-3 victory over Triton; Shull scored two third-period goals to send Marblehead past North Andover 3-2; and Carere came within 3:46 of a shutout, Ben Miller scoring, and Miller had 1-1-2 in Belmont’s 3-1 win over Groton.


Winchester won twice in the North. Josh Wang and Alden Martin both had a goal and an assist in a 5-2 victory over NH East – and Cole Dente set up two goals and Ryan Welch scored the winner in the second period of a 3-2 decision over Stoneham;

Jimmy Ayers had two goals and an assist and Brendan Alberry scored one goal and set up two others in Agawam’s 5-2 win over Acton-Boxboro; Brian O’Neil’s second goal of the game, early in the second period, gave Burlington a 2-2 tie with Danvers; Bryan (5:40) and Carta (:39) scored late to give Woburn a 4-4 tie with South Boston – Donovan with two goals and Walsh 1-1-2 for South Boston; Ty Foley wore the hat, Jake Reed scored twice and Kevin Doherty and Anthony Petrone both posted 1-1-2 in Stoneham’s 8-1 win over Methuen; Zoe Tow and Ko both had 1-1-2 in Brookline’s 5-3 victory over Natick – Andrew Miller with two assists in the loss; Bonasian clicked for 2-1-3, Anderson and Brown also scored twice and Fanning had a goal and an assist in Needham’s big win over Arlington; and Brendan Butler scored with 2:25 left to giver Parkway a 4-4 tie with Waltham – Jordan Laudani with two goals for Waltham.

Agawam won twice in the South. Jimmy Ayers scored two goals and set up another and Brendan Alberry had a goal and two assists in a 5-2 victory over Acton-Boxboro – and Birch Lake delivered 2-1-3, No. 15 had three assists, George Gibson scored twice and Chase Davis had 1-1-2 in a 7-1 triumph over Lynnfield/Saugus;

Rocco Marini scored twice, Zachary Tam had a goal and an assist and Newton scored three times in the first period and defeated Waltham 4-2; Coulter wore the hat and Magee had two assists in Hyde Park’s 7-3 win over Dorchester; Mark Madeja pitched a shutout, Zach Abbott scored twice and Cam Muniz had two assists in Cape Ann’s 3-0 win over Concord; Joe McDonald scored four goals, Aidan Corrier also wore a hat, Cullen Simes scored twice and No. 10 had two assists in Haverhill/Pentucket’s12-5 win over Amesbury – Bryson Vater with a hat trick in the loss; Bobby Hunter posted 2-2-4, Mike Brock scored one goal and dished out three assists, Max Murphy and Brayden Clark both had 1-1-2, DJ Bachini had two assists and Jack Tenhope pitched a shutout in Beverly’s 7-0 win over Concord; No. 15 scored what turned out to be the winner with 7:10 left in the second period as Lynnfield/Saugus downed Cape Ann 3-1; and McDonald had 2-1-3 and Donovan and Marujo shared the shutout in Somerville’s big win over Wellesley.

Nashoba, the Sharks and Framingham all won twice in the East. Ben Hayes and Brandon bailey both scored twice, Hayes adding an assist, and Evan Twombly had two assists in Nashoba’s 7-0 win over SMS – and Henry Hayes wore the hat and had an assist and Bailey posted 1-1-2 in a 6-1 victory over the Outlaws; Nate Brown pitched a shutout and Tyler O’Neil scored early in the second period as the Sharks downed the Outlaws 3-0 – and Ethan Kenyon and Jack Remuck both posted a goal and an assist in a 4-1 triumph over SMS; Jake Shapiro had 2-1-3, Emmanuel Julakis and Joe Martell both set up three goals, Brian West also scored twice and Tom Casale posted 1-1-2 in Framingham’s 7-2 victory over Triboro – and Tyler Hammond and Max McGeal (second goal) scored 1:18 apart in the third period to give Framingham a 3-2 decision over Dedham, McKearney with 1-1-2 in the loss; 

Jack Pothier scored with 1:59 left to give Waltham a 2-1 decision over North Andover; Jack Sullivan had a goal and two assists, No. 11 scored twice, Mike Connelly and No. 15 both posted 1-1-2 and Cael Kohan also had two assists in Triton big win over Woburn; John defeo had 2-1-3 and No. 30 had 1-1-2 in Wakefield’s 7-5 victory over Cambridge – Delino with 1-2-3 and Quigley two goals in the loss; Joe Shurland scored with 5:27 left to give Reading a 1-1 tie with the Edge – Alex Robinson with the Edge goal 58 seconds into the game; and Jack Reslenek scored 46 seconds into the game and Connor Stamm pitched a shutout in Dedham’s 4-0 win over the Crusaders.

Twin City and Billerica both won twice and the Demons had a win and a tie in the West. Leblanc had a goal and an assist, Stephens scored what turned out to be the winner with 6:32 left and Twin City scored all four goals in a 6:02 span of the third period for a 4-2 victory over Concord-Carlisle – and Powell posted 1-1-2 and Cloutier two assists in a 6-0 triumph over Newton; Osborn pitched a shutout and Hederman scored midway through the first period as Billerica downed the Cyclones 2-0 – and Farmer scored four goals, Hederman scored two goals in 44 seconds, Papa and Forristall both had two assists and Billerica scored four goals in 3:37 and downed Andover 6-2; Nick Cibotti, Caleb Dacy and Jesse Chambers scored in a 1:55 span late in the first period as the Demons edged the Starhawks 3-2 – and Geoffrey Tocco scored the tying goal with 3:16 left and Cibotti had two assists as the Demons pulled out a 2-2 tie with Concord-Carlisle, Aidan Bain with assists on both goals for C-C;

Torin White (two goals) and Griffin Petrucci (one assist) scored 59 seconds apart early in the third period as Hollis nipped Wilmington 5-3; James Wilder scored two goals and dished out three assists and Colin Quint posted 1-1-2 in Medfield’s 6-1 victory over Framingham; Eli Fishbein posted 1-2-3 and Andrew Bushnell scored twice in Acton-Boxboro’s 4-1 win over the Cyclones; Max Churchill pitched a shutout and Joe Hansen had a goal and two assists in Wilmington’s 3-0 victory over NH East; Terry Morrissey and Zac Ratte scored third-period goals as Andover edged Hollis 5-4 – Zach Dutton with 1-1-2 in the win.


The Sharks won twice and Natick had a win and a tie in the North. Cam Gibbons (one assist) and No. 52 scored third-period goals to lift the Sharks past the Crusaders 4-3, DJ Splaine with 1-1-2 in the win and Ethan Laraia two goals in the loss – and Jack Kelly scored twice in a 4-1 win over Greater Lowell; Matt Tavaras scored twice and Jack Whelan had two assists in Natick’s 4-1 victory over Brookline – and Sean Connors scored with 3:52 left as Haverhill/Pentucket rallied from two goals down and tied Natick 2-2;

Brett Palladino wore the hat and had an assist, Brendan Gruenberg posted two goals and two assists and Liam Goddard had 1-1-2 in Masco’s 8-1 victory over SMS; Drew Nedroscik scored twice as Stoneham trimmed Masco 4-1; Tim O’Sullivan scored four goals and set up another, Alex O’Sullivan dished out three assists and Tom Youngen two in Wellesley’s 7-0 victory over SMS; Aylen Cioffi and Corey Raffo both posted 2-1-3 in Everett/Revere’s 7-2 win over Greater Lowell; and Bailey Chen clicked for 2-2-4, Brenan Conneely had  2-1-3 and Murphy Hagerty and Sam Pettigas each posted 1-1-2 in Parkway’s 8-6 victory over Waltham – Mark O’Neil and Alex Holdman both wearing hats and Declan Gallagher with two assists in the loss.

Andover won twice in the South. Tyler Ferro’s second goal of the game, with 7:43 left, turned out to be the winner, Aidan Foley had 1-1-2 and Kirk Hillson two assists in a 3-2 decision over Twin City, Ardon Zibel and Colby Guilmette with 1-1-2 apiece for TC – and Cody Decredico scored twice and Hillson had two assists in a 5-3 win over Agawam, Dan Mentz with a hat trick in the loss;

Billy Carr scored twice and Tyler Martin had two assists as the Edge downed North Reading 3-1; Chris Cummings clicked for 1-2-3 and Ayden Bourque had 1-1-2 as Groton topped the Edge 5-3 – Cam Cole with 1-1-2 and Brian Chisholm two assists in the loss; Dean Rooney had 1-1-2 and Cam Alter pitched a shutout in North Reading’s 5-0 win over Nashoba; Logan Humphrey scored with 8:48 left and James Maniaci then came through with his second goal of the game with 48 seconds left, giving Marblehead a 3-3 tie with Lynnfield/Saugus – Aiden Knight with two goals for L/S; Devin and Patrie both wore hats and Reddick had three assists in Lynn’s 7-2 victory over Wakefield; Cash scored twice, Streeter posted 1-1-2 and Indrisano pitched a shutout in Winthrop’s 4-0 win over Cape Ann; Josh Russo wore the hat and had an assist, Jack O’Hara posted 1-1-2 and Mike Gates two assists as Danvers trimmed Agawam 6-3 – Leo Kagan with 1-1-2 in the loss; and Kyle Doney scored four goals, Scotty McCabe tallied twice and Madigan Anderson pitched a shutout in Nashoba’s 6-0 victory over Tewksbury;

Arlington, Belmont and the Sharks all won twice in the East. Dave Delaney scored one goal and set up two others, Nolan Lombard scored twice and Arlington scored four times in the second period and downed Winchester 5-3, Hoertdoerfer with two goals in the loss – and Delaney scored twice and Brendan McIlvenna pitched a shutout in a 4-0 triumph over South Boston; Conneely Mullan had a goal and an assist in Belmont’s 4-2 victory over Dorchester – and Mason Andrade wore the hat, Dan Barmakian had three assists, Kevin Guden scored twice and Ed Hassler pitched a shutout in an 8-0 win over Somerville; Joe Conway wore the hat to lead the Sharks past Framingham 7-4, Henry Woolard and Max Bauer with 1-1-2 apiece and Nick McGrann two assists in the loss – and Conway, who also had an assist, capped a hat trick with 2:39 left to give the Sharks a 5-4 decision over Waltham, Trent Fucci with 2-2-4 and Andrew Arena 1-2-3 in the loss;

Ricky Shepard wore the hat, Craig Regan scored twice, Tommy Ryan had a goal and an assist and Colby Pigott posted two assists in Burlington’s 8-1 win over Somerville; Ryan Melia pitched a shutout, Andrew Galvin had 1-2-3 and Timmy Cooper 1-1-2 in Dorchester’s 3-0 victory over Burlington; O’Brien and No. 12 scored 46 seconds apart in the second period as Framingham downed the Outlaws 5-2; Storey clicked for 1-1-2 as Shrewsbury edged Triboto 2-1; Tighe Archambault and Jack Gerace scored late to give Groton a 4-2 decision over the Starhawks – Jack Yates with 1-1-2 in the loss; and Fucci scored four straight goals, Arena had three assists, Andrew Venckus two and Jaymeson Yerardi the shutout in Waltham’s 5-0 win over the Outlaws.

Medford and Medfield both had a win and a tie, Medfield tying Wellesley, one of two ties for Wellesley, the other against Hyde Park, which also had two ties in the West. Liam Bernardi wore the hat and had an assist and Cam Pigeon posted 1-1-2 in Medford’s 9-3 win over NH East, Gallant with two goals in the loss – and Nathan Dahlquist scored with 1:40 left in the second period as Wilmington came from two goals down and tied Medford 2-2; McNeely wore the hat in Medfield’s 6-1 victory over Newton; Gage scored with 39 seconds left to give Wellesley a 1-1 tie with Medfield, which got a first-period goal from Chryton; and B.S. Wilson and No. 20 (2:50 left) scored third-period goal to give Hyde Park a 3-3 tie with Wellesley, Coyle with 1-1-2 for HP and No. 1 with 1-1-2 for Wellesley –and Wilson scored two third-period goals to give Hyde Park a 3-3 tie with Brookline;

Nicolas DiLuca and Dylan Sadowski both wore hats, DiLuca adding an assist, and Kyle Desjardin and Jonathan Ran both posted 1-1-2 as the Edge scored a big win over Acton-Boxboro; Robbins and No. 28 both posted 1-1-2 and No. 37 had two assists in Wilmington’s 5-3 victory over Haverhill/Pentucket – Ty Lancaster with 1-1-2 in the loss; Alex Psichos posted 2-1-3 and Tom Ritondo and Finn Crowley both had two assists in Reading’s 5-2 triumph over Haverhill/Pentucket – Lancaster with 1-1-2 in the loss; Matt Kobrenski (2-1-3) scored with 4:50 left to give Methuen a 6-6 tie with Chelmsford – Ryan McInnis with a goal and three assist and Ryan Gifford a hat trick for Chelmsford; Landers wore the hat and had an assist, Leahy scored twice and Brancato had 1-1-2 in Dedham’s 7-1 win over Dorchester; Lindenthal and Dixon shared the shutout and Sammot and Ciesielski scored 14 seconds apart late as Needham nipped Parkway 2-0; and William Pollock posted 1-1-2 and Tristan Goroshko pitched a shutout in Beverly’s 5-0 win over Lexington/Bedford.

Triboro won twice and Belmont had a win and a tie in the Central. Zach Ruffing scored five goals and set up another, Tim Mosher had a goal and an assist and Yuven Dadigala posted two assists in Triboro’s 11-3 victory over Twin City – and Mikhail Medina scored twice in a 3-1 decision over the Crusaders; Dom Frisoli wore the hat, Rory McDermid scored twice, Malcolm MacDonald had 1-1-2 and Scott Vreeland pitched a shutout in Belmont’s 8-0 victory over Acton-Boxboro – and Clifford scored the tying goal with 3:33 left and Stephenson posted a goal and an assist as Natick pulled out a 3-3 tie with Belmont – Frisoli with 1-1-2 for Belmont;

Dave Swansoff pitched a shutout and Jack Drummer scored midway through Reading’s 3-0 victory over Lexington/Bedford; and Charlie Chinian clicked for 2-2-4, Zach Sarasin and Liam Hickey both had 2-1-3, Kaleb Jakola also had two goals and Matt Marshall and Kyle Therrien both also had two assists in North Central’s big win over Natick.
