Bantam - Week Ending Jan. 24


Wilmington had a win and a tie. Timmy Kippenberger’s second goal of the game 1:31 into the third period turned out to be the winner in a 3-2 decision over Waltham – and Wilmington’s Robbie Farrell and the Maine Academy’s Jacob Smith put on a goaltending show in a 0-0 tie;

Robbie Lopez wore the hat and had two assists, William Trischitta scored twice, Sean MacInnis dished out two assists and Austin Villa pitched a shutout in Framingham’s 5-0 victory over Lynnfield/Saugus; Jack Ruiley snapped a 2-2 tie early in the second period, Steve Vozzella posted 1-1-2 and Mike Martignetti had two assists as Winchester nipped Portland 4-2; Justin Morin and Matt Johnson both clicked for 2-2-4 and Alex Miller had 1-1-2 in Waltham’s 5-3 victory over Portland, which got 1-1-2 apiece from Dawson Gendreau and Jacob McDonald; and Wellesley defeated Newburyport 5-2.


Concord wore a pair of ties in the North. Ethan Crandelmire scored with 2:16 left and also had an assist as Concord pulled out a 2-2 tie with Casco Bay, Zack Painchaud with assists on both Concord goals – and Duquette’s second goal of the game, with 2:12 left, gave Tewksbury a 3-3 tie with Concord, Mike Arsenault with two assists for Tewksbury;

Ryan Gray scored two goals and added an assist and Cory Cherico snapped a 1-1 tie with 1:11 left in the second period as Winthrop topped Wellesley 4-1; and Max Janger wore the hat and Johnny McMenimen had two assists in Arlington’s 4-1 triumph over Natick.

In the South, Caleb Bogdanovich scored two goals and set up another as the Maine Academy downed Andover 4-1; Brendan Hannabury pitched a shutout and Brian Cahill had a goal and an assist in Reading’s 3-0 win over NH East; and Nolan Cooper pitched a shutout and Nick Wang scored late in the second period as Newton nipped Framingham 2-0.


In the North, James Trussell was in goal for Methuen and Jason Capela for Burlington in a 0-0 tie; Gorman had two goals and an assist and Marks and Rowe both posted 1-12 as Melrose defeated Agawam 7-2 – Frain with assists on both Agawam goals; John Paugh pitched a shutout and Aidan Hanley scored in the first period of Natick’s 2-0 win over Waltham; and Sean Dobisz, who had an earlier assists, scored with 41 seconds left to give Waltham a 3-2 decision over Stoneham.

In the South, Carson Priante scored the winner in the second period as Newton edged Arlington 2-1; Josh PacPherson wore the hat and had an assist, Kevin Conley clicked for 1-2-3 and Jake Veiera pitched a shutout in Greater Lowell’s 6-0 victory over Winchester; Franzak scored two late goals, Ciarlone also scored twice and Connearney had two assists as Medford edged Waltham 5-4 – Jack Kavy with two goals and JP Ferraro two assists in the loss; and Guarino scored twice, Jepson had two assists and Donohoe scored what turned out to be the winner early in the third period of Woburn’s 4-3 win over Waltham, which got 1-2-3 from Matt Tardif and 1-1-2 apiece from Alex Tracanna and Connor Cameron.

Twin City and Somerville both won twice in the East. Matt Albert scored with 1:03 left to give Twin City a 3-2 victory over Nashoba – and Adam White came through with 6:17 remaining for a 2-1 decision over the Crusaders; Nikky Merkel scored twice in the first period as Somerville downed Reading 5-2 – and Merkel clicked for a goal and two assists and F. Valessio posted 1-1-2 in a 6-2 triumph over Dorchester.

In the West, Ryan Bettencourt scored with 3:22 left to give Chelmsford a 2-2 tie with NH East; Zach Korbin pitched a shutout and Kyle Taylor scored in the second period as Waltham nipped NHE 2-0; Cam Silva scored with 4:45 remaining to give Beverly a 2-1 decision over Newton; Paul Connaughton scored with 55 seconds left to give Framingham a 3-2 verdict over Groton – Tom McKeown with 1-1-2 in the win and Burke both goals in the loss; and Jasper Sieniewicz pitched a shutout and Connor Purcell scored with 10:27 left to give Cambridge a 1-0 win over Andover.


In the North, Anthony Cedrone and Ian Cadden both had a goal and an assist and Adam Silva set up two goals in Billerica’s 3-1 victory over Acton-Boxboro; Phil Quinn had a goal and an assist in the second period as North Central trimmed Twin City 3-1; No. 14 had two assists and No. 1 scored what turned out to be the winner 59 seconds into the third period as Wellesley topped Woburn 4-2; Kyle Bourque scored twice and Ryan Figueredo had two assists as Triboro downed North Central 3-1; Olivieri scored twice in Lynn’s 5-3 victory over Agawam, which got two goals from Conor O’Halloran; Williamson came within 2:32 of a shutout, Matt Burke scoring the goal, but McKay and Doherty scored 1:23 apart late in the second period as North Andover edged Woburn 2-1.

Medfield won twice and Winthrop wore a pair of ties in the South. Vachom wore a natural hat and Quint had two assists in Medfield’s 5-1 victory over the Sharks – and Vachon wore another hat, Perachi had three assists and Deady two in a 6-4 win over Wilmington, which got two goals from Cam Banks; Evan Smotrich scored with seven seconds left in the second period and then came through with 37 seconds remaining in the game as Winthrop pulled out a 3-3 tie with Haverhill/Pentucket, Mike Brooks with two assists for Winthrop and Eoin McDonough two assists for H/P – and Nick Kosmas scored with 2:04 left to give Lynnfield/Saugus a 1-1 tie with Winthrop, which got a second-period goal from Mike Vecchio;

William DiModica scored what turned out to be the winner early in the second period as NH East downed the Edge 3-1; Logan Pfaler broke up Jamie Kennally’s shutout bid with 1:14 left and gave Natick a 1-1 tie with Danvers, which went ahead when Andrew Lockard scored with 6:48 remaining; and Brendan Vacca wore a natural hat in Wakefield’s 4-1 victory over Marblehead.

Burlington A1 had a win and a tie in the East. Mike Morcos pitched a shutout and Dan Castellarin scored in the first period of a 3-0 victory over Nashoba – and Jake Taylor and Ronin D’Auria scored third-period goals to give their team a 3-3 tie with Danvers, which got 1-1-2 from Dan Verry;

Billy McLean and No. 3 scored 21 seconds apart midway through the third period and Brendan Grubb posted a goal and an assist in Arlington’s 4-2 win over Parkway; Luke McKenna clicked for 2-1-3, John Rannikko also scored twice, Jared McKenna and Shawn Callahan both had 1-1-2 and Jake Geannaris pitched a shutout in Masco’s big win over Melrose; Matt Bonano scored his second and third goals of the game in the third period, capping his hat trick with 2:17 left to give Burlington A2 a 3-2 decision over Andover – Joe Fournier with two assists in the win; and Jacob English scored twice, Tyler Cilluffo had 1-1-2 and Walker Knowles pitched a shutout in Cape Ann’s 4-0 victory over Burlington.

Acton-Boxboro won twice in the West. Colin Hatton scored two goals and set up another and Liam French had a goal and two assists in a 7-4 victory over North Central, which got a goal and an assist from Ben Savoie – and Demetrius Dapkas, who had an earlier assist, scored with 41 seconds left to give A-B a 3-2 decision over the Crusaders;

Ethan Boudreau, who also had an assist, scored 36 seconds into the third period and Matt DelGizzi (1-1-2) followed with 20 seconds left to give Waltham a 4-3 decision over Lexington/Bedford, which got two goals from Charlie Dixon; Josh McNeil scored two goals and set up two others in Groton’s 4-1 victory over Chelmsford; Mike Donehey had two assists and No. 15 and Coleman Jones scored 1:54 apart in the third period as Medford trimmed Winchester 3-1; Andrew Hadden scored with 9:26 left to give Triboro a 2-1 decision over Concord-Carlisle; Josh Ratnoff erupted for five goals and had an assist and Cole Bolduc posted two assists in Greater Lowell’s 6-1 win over SMS; and Joe Hickey wore a second-period hat and Matt Joseph and Ben Croteau both had two assists as Lexington/Bedford edged Dorchester 3-2.

Wellesley won twice in the Central. Ryan Kelley pitched a shutout and Gavin Gallagher scored with 7:39 left in a 1-0 victory over Methuen – and Cole Kennedy scored five goals, wearing a natural hat in a 3:10 span late in the first period, Ben Crawford had 1-1-2 and Teddy Coes two assists in a 6-3 win over Reading;

Gavin Goyetech pitched a shutout and Jared Barcelos scored early as Haverhill/Pentucket downed the Crusaders 3-0; Joe Steffey scored with 4:51 left to give Twin City a 3-3 tie with the Edge, who got 1-1-2 from Billy Carr; Ryan Cronin scored with 2:46 remaining and then again 32 seconds later and Tom Gentile then scored with nine seconds remaining to give Triboro a dramatic 4-3 decision over Methuen – Jacob Walker with 1-1-2 in the loss; and Jack Maguire clicked for 2-2-4, Cam Goneau also scored twice and Dillon Pasco also had two assists in Woburn’s 5-1 win over Natick.
