Natick Peewee AA Wins Tier III Massachusetts State Championship
Congratulations to the Natick Peewee AA team on their victory at the Tier III Massachusetts State Championship this past weekend at Fitchburg State University.
Natick advanced out of a tough preliminary bracket of Westfield, Cambridge and Everett-Revere on Friday and Saturday. In a semifinal match-up against Duxbury, Joey Soma erased a 1-0 deficit with two shorthanded goals on the same shift and Jacob Greenberg set up AndrewBradshaw for the game-winner in a 4-2 victory. In the title game, goals by Matt Paolatto and Chris Burnes and great goaltending by Mason Bailey and Nick Riccardi led Natick to a 4-1 win and the championship over Andover AA.
Natick was also paced by a balanced attack on offense from Jake Jewett, Peter Manoli, CamAnzivino and Evan Doherty. And stellar defense from James Lilly, Joey Shanno, Ethan Landon, Nikki Gerjarusak, John Carr and Spencer Dorfneilsen held opponents to only eight goals over the weekend.
The VHL was represented by three of the four semifinalists - Natick, Andover and Reading.
