Peewee - Week Ending March 23
Stoneham won three games and Danvers, North Reading and Reading all won twice. Connor Dolan scored twice, Connor Duffy had a goal and an assists and Mike Lanza two assists in Stoneham’s 6-3 win over Methuen, which got two goals and an assist from Dustin Lubinger, 1-1-2 from John Bartlett and two assists from Ryan Bradley; Jarred Penney’s second goal of the game proved to be the winner with 7:07 left and Steve Kehoe had 2-1-3 in a 5-4 decision over Winchester – and Kehoe had 1-1-2 and Penney two assists in a 4-1 win over Masco; Joe Strangie posted 1-2-3 and Rob Buchanan scored twice as Danvers beat Masco, 6-2 – and Kyle White posted 2-2-4, Buchanan and Trevor Daly two goals each and Strangie 1-1-2 in a 7-1 handling of Concord; Anthony Merullo delivered 1-2-3, Mitch Mahoney and Mike Brandano both scored twice and Tom Day had two assists in North Reading’s 6-3 win over Lexington/Bedford, which got 1-1-2 apiece from Sam Eddy and Mike McWeeney – and Brandano had 2-1-3, Tom Day also scored twice and Brandon Smith and Shane Driscoll both had two assists in a 5-3 win over Melrose, which got 1-1-2 from Amato; Billy Henry and Chris Shea shared the shutout and Garrett Phelan scored late in the second period of Reading’s 1-0 win over Dover – and David Spry posted 1-1-2 in a 4-1 victory over the Gladiators;
AJ Johnson and CJ Grinnell both scored twice and Sean Murphy had two assists in Burlington’s 4-2 win over Arlington; Seth Conley, Danny Kelly and Matt Shea all had 1-1-2 and Arlington beat the Gladiators, 5-0; and Josh Fiore posted 2-2-4, Jordan Manthorne 1-3-4 and Andrew Bisconti scored two goals in 48 seconds as Peabody took care of Winchester, 7-1.
Saugus had a win and a tie. Kay wore the hat and had two assists and Sweeney scored twice in a 5-2 win over Reading, which got both goals from Kyle Tierney and two assists from James Doherty – and Portelle had the tying goal with 1:10 left, Hadley scored twice and Morey two assists as Saugus pulled out a 3-3 tie with NH East, which had gone ahead when James Walsh capped a 2-1-3 effort with a goal with 2:34 left and also got two assists from Chris Silver;
Jake Ring snapped a 2-2 tie with 4:42 left and Jake Barnacle scored 10 seconds later as Salem beat Cape Ann, 5-2 – Shane Morin with 1-1-2 and Connor Donohue two assists in the win; Evan Bourassa pitched a shutout and Cooper O’Brien posted 1-1-2 as the Maine Renegades beat Everett/Revere, 3-0, Erik Powers had 1-2-3, Cam Rowe scored twice and Cam Woodrow had two assists in Marblehead’s 5-1 victory over Reading; Jesse McLaughlin scored with 2:50 left to give Beverly a 2-1 decision over Triton; DeCiste’s goal with 3:00 left in the second period turned out to be the winner in Cape Ann’s 3-1 win over the Breakers; and Ben Ethier pitched a shutout and Robert Anderson scored midway through Newton’s 1-0 win over Newburyport.
Billy Poirier’s second goal of the game, with 7:30 left, was the winner and Matt Martin had two assists as Burlington edged Wilmington, 3-2, despite two goals by Matt Diorio; Tyler Gibbons wore the hat and Andrew Robertson had the eventual winner as Wakefield beat S&S, 4-2; Tristan Stewart (1-1-2) had what proved to be the winner 23 seconds into the third period in North Andover’s 4-2 victory over the Blizzard, which got 1-1-2 from Austin Brown; Jake Martin’s 2-1-3 led the Cyclones past Concord, 4-1; Dan Eruzione wore the hat and had an assist, Steve Goddard had 2-1-3 and Joe Skoczylas set up three goals in Winthrop’s 7-1 handling of the Blizzard; and No. 1 had the winner with :30 left and Ross Webber posted 1-1-2 as Greater Lowell edged Malden, 3-2.
Lexington/Bedford had two wins and a tie. Josh Carruthers had the winner with :15 left, Grace Doxey scored twice and Jennifer Maher had two assists in a 3-2 win over Wilmington; Sara Lehman collected a goal and three assists, Maher 2-1-3 and Connor Murphy 1-1-2 in a 5-0 win over Peabody – and Mike Balieri scored the tying goal with 9:15 left and Dylan Harris set up two goals as Methuen pulled out a 3-3 tie with L/B, which got 1-1-2 from Lehman;
Blades Shields and Sean Vasque both had 1-2-3 in Amesbury’s 6-1 win over Pentucket; Ian Lapham’s second of the game snapped a 2-2 tie with 3:51 left and Jimmy Houston posted two assists as Reading beat Methuen, 4-2; Ganter (1-1-2) scored with 2:18 left to give Lynnfield a 4-3 victory over Watertown, which got two goals from Joe Kelland and two assists from James Garbier; and Sean Brennan scored twice in the second period and Cape Ann edged Peabody, 2-1.
North Reading and Newton both won twice. Joe Lemieux (1-1-2) snapped a 4-4 tie with 2:12 left, Sam Sutera scored twice and Chase had 1-1-2 in a 6-4 win over S&S, which got 1-1-2 apiece from Byrne and Green and two assists from Cresta – and Sutera wore the hat and had an assist, Lemieux posted 2-1-3 and Chase 1-1-2 in a 6-4 triumph over Reading, which got two assists from Pat McDonald; Dober scored twice in Newton’s 4-2 win over Beverly – and No. 18 (1-2-3) snapped a 4-4 tie with 2:33 left and Levin (2-2-4) followed 49 seconds later, following up on a Sera hat trick as Newton beat Marblehead, 6-4, despite two goals by Alex Fusegni and 1-1-2 by Dean Fader;
Fusegni posted 2-1-3 and Marblehead beat Lexington/Bedford, 4-1; No. 8 delivered 1-2-3 and Joe Silva and Brent Lozzi both scored twice in Lynn’s 6-4 win over Agawam, which got two goals each from Connor Cronin and Alex Rollins and two assists from Sam Rourke; and Abby Angelosanto’s 1-3-4 and 2-1-3 by Keith Terban paced Newburyport to a 5-1 win over Stoneham’s Anthony Bazzinotti capped a 2-1-3 with the winner with 3:03 left to give Greater Lowell a 4-3 decision over Lexington/Bedford.
Amesbury won twice. Ben Clifford had two goals and an assist, Drew Beaupre posted 1-1-2 and Chris Zielinski pitched a shutout in a 5-0 win over Medford – and Clifford and Mike Duggan both scored twice and Meghan Dolan had two assists in a 5-1 triumph over Lynn;
Tom Mulligan had 2-1-3 and Brian Padellaro set up two goals in Newburyport’s 5-2 win over Burlington; Pantinis wore the hat and had an assist, Duffy and Day both posted 1-1-2 and S. Crowley had two assists as the Blizzard beat Danvers, 8-1; Mucci collected 2-1-3, Mahoney also scored twice and Wyman and Rockwell both had two assists in Arlington’s 6-0 win over Wakefield; and Bennett Curcuru scored two goals in 1:07 and No. 87 followed 52 seconds later as Cape Ann rallied past Marblehead, 3-2.
Methuen won twice. Austin Brown scored twice, Derick Swenson had 1-1-2 and Ian Beauchesne added two assists to back the shutout goaltending of Chris Milone in a 4-0 win over Melrose – and Jimmy Spearman (1-1-2) capped a rally from a 3-0 deficit with the winner with 4:20 left and Brown scored twice in the second period of a 4-3 win over Woburn;
Matt Judge pitched a shutout, Ryan Cobb had 2-1-3 and Melissa Cusanello 1-2-3 as Lexington/Bedford IV beat Tewksbury, 3-0; Reid Garrant scored midway through the second period to give Pentucket a 2-2 tie with Peabody; Collin Kor scored with 5:22 left to give North Reading a 2-2 tie with Masco, which got both goals from Jonathan Tammaro; Rhett Adley scored both goals as Lexington/Bedford Y edged the Wizards, 2-1; Tikonoff delivered 2-1-3, Woodworth 1-1-2 and Eccles and Gerard two assists apiece as Melrose beat Andover, 5-2; and Pat Aquilina collected 2-1-3, Paul Budge also scored twice and Bar Dadon had two assists in Newton’s 5-2 win over Arlington. – MIKE SHALIN, email@example.com
